South America is being battered by catastrophic floods, snow and mudslides. The Andes region of Chile, Peru and Bolivia have all been badly hit. Peru's president has declared a state of emergency as experts warn that up to 1.2 million people could be affected.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca is best I can tell, this is news from February. Can't find any news about flooding this week, and only state of emergency in Peru is because of violence in capital. https://en.fnnews.com/news/202608290721484878. So do you have any source for your post?

Mother Nature is just getting started.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca We need to do a better job of coverage of all people affected by disasters, and not just the few foreigners caught up in them (looking at all the foreign press re: Nepal).

In addition, the Southern hemisphere always gets short shrift and this lack of msm coverage is no exception.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca Surely they will be even more interested in Canadian oil and LNG now.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca Thanks. Yes, it’s too bad about Al Jazeera.

There's plenty of bad real news to go around. And Chile, Peru and Bolivia will have plenty more, also.
