30–31 Friar St., Reading

#ReadingUK #Signage #StreetPhotography #Photography

An urban passageway. The old brick buildings on the left feature many white-framed windows and numerous air-conditioning (or perhaps heat pump) units. Refuse bins are lined up along side it. On the right, a relatively modern office/retail building, with concrete walls, wood panelling, and a mesh-screened balcony. Attached to the latter is a vertical hanging sign that reads "30—31 Friar Street." The em-dash is stylistically wrong (it should be an en-dash), but I don't mind it. Reading, Berkshire, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke.

In a paved alley, one section of an otherwise concrete-and-glass building has a brickwork section with a small sash window in the middle. The wall has been painted black and has "30—31" painted in large white numerals, with the extra-long dash being broken by the window. 30–31 Friar Street, Reading, Berkshire, UK.
