Apply for your mail ballot as soon as possible (some states send ballots to every registered voter).
Complete your ballot as soon as you receive it.
Return it right away using a ballot drop box if at all possible.
If returning by mail take to your post office if possible as soon as possible.
If that's not possible, get it in a mailbox at the earliest possible time.

The USPS is grossly negligent in not training staff to handle elections mail. It's like pretending it has no mail rush at Christmas or during tax season.
