For #ThrowbackThursday here's the view from our room at the Red Lion Hotel in Clovelly, Devon back in 1996. This was a long weekend away with the woman who I'd been going out with for four months at this time and who I've been with ever since. Fond memories of how much my car struggled to get up the hill from this bay, screaming in first gear as it just managed it each day before we'd head off exploring.

Scan of a colour photograph. We're looking through a window out over a bay. The window has no net curtains up and is a single-glazed, sash window type with each half of the sliding panels split into three panes, the woodwork painted cream but flaking and dirty and showing age. Outside it's an overcast day with a sense of dampness in the air that's not quite threatening rain. The bay is shallow and the tide is out so there are over a dozen small boats on the damp shingle, leaning and waiting for water to come in and float them. A high sea wall is on the left but the bay is mostly exposed directly ahead and to the right where a hilly headland wraps around the bay under the grey sky.
