The image appeared on the cover of The Clash album Blackmarket Clash and inspired the band to write the song "White Riot."

On August 2, 1976, the Runaways played at CBGB in New York City.

It was their first trip to the East Coast, and the band consisted of Joan Jett, Jackie Fox, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, and Sandy West.
