This is a Blue jay that is preening and has no head feathers.

As the weather gets cold some birds will lose a lot of feathers

It's haircut season!

This is a Blue jay that is preening and has no head feathers.

As the weather gets cold some birds will lose a lot of feathers all at once so they don't lose any during the winter and can stay insulated.

This is called catastrophic molt and is completely normal.

It's designed for 76mm x 38mm, with about 3mm of bleed.
