It is the last surviving member of the Y6a class and has been at the National Museum of Transportation since 1959. It is regarded as one of the most efficient and powerful heavy freight steam locomotive designs ever built.

It's a Class K-1-d medium passenger locomotive featuring 72" drive wheels and weighing over 346,000 pounds with its tender. It was retired in the late 1950s and has been at the National Museum of Transportation since November, 1958.
