Taking exception to our usual reviews of bourbons, whisk(e)y, beer, and cider, we figured what better time to review a rum than during #rummonth.
A collaboration between two respected rum distillers, one from Barbados and the other from Jamaica, this blend had us pondering a Rye Tai (which includes a 100+ proof rye whiskey) or, in place of our usual overproof rum addition.
Final thoughts? Here's the breakdown that we came up with, "Swirling and sniffing, we recover notes of glue, punchy phenolic, brown butter, and that expectant funk including overripe bananas.
Sipping, we recover notes of caramel, vanilla bean, pineapple, citrus zest, and some overripe banana
Finishing, blackstrap molasses, baking spices and some toasted oak remain."
