Across the square a woman stood next to the brick wall in the same posture, head down, thumb moving. They weren’t together, so the matching was just chance.

Twenty years ago they’d have stood there bored. Nobody under that age remembers a world without mobile screens. My first one was the Samsung Galaxy S2. I loved that phone.
