She walked in off the street and became part of the exhibition without knowing it. "Stories of South Gippsland Women," the panels repeat, marching along the wall — farmers, mothers, volunteers, wildlife rescuers, each with her portrait and her paragraph. And in front of them, hat on, bag over shoulder, stood one more, reading. I waited until her silhouette settled between two panels before pressing the shutter, because that's when I saw it: same posture as the portraits, same quiet gravity — a woman whose story just isn't on the wall yet. The benches stayed empty. She never sat. She simply drifted from panel to panel, slowly, the way you visit people. Black and white was the only honest choice; the whole room was already thinking in it.
