A (i.e. Great Ouse) juxtaposition - a in watchful mode and a perched nearby on the same structure, on the western side of the river (I was on the east bank at the time).

A grey heron with beak open but otherwise in a classically watchful pose (long necked bird with grey back feathers, a white neck with a black strip, a black patch on the head and a yellow beak), and on the same wooden structure but a few feet removed a resting cormorant.
