Although smaller and more unassuming, to me this is a more spectacular gateway in Wittenberg than the Door of the Theses.

It leads into the courtyard of the University of Wittenberg, where Shakespeare sent his Hamlet and Horatio to study.

In real life, Giordano Bruno taught here, and among the students numbered the Romantic poet Novalis and Anton Wilhelm Amo. The latter came to Europe from Ghana as a slave and studied to become one of the leading thinkers of his time before he—now a professor in Halle—was forced out by racist machinations.
