'Unter der Oberfläche' "Under the Surface"

The Silent Service

(Details in the ) (Described by Human)

This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a modern submarine running on the surface with rising terrain in the background. Firth of Clyde (2017). The dark waters of the sea rise from the base of the photo upwards to a little less than the quarter up level. On a poorly defined horizon and below and to the left of centre is our submarine, underway from left to right and just above the surface. The camera is located a few metres above the water with the submarine being around one km away. The all black vessel is viewed in profile with the starboard (right) side in view. Water can be seen washing over the casing (top of the hull) with a short sensor above the deck aft of the bow. Further aft is the large fin (sometimes called the sail or conning tower) that's located a little forward of midships with two or three raised signal masts, radars or periscopes. Further aft is more dark hull that is faired downwards towards the stern with a short stretch of water before the upper ru

This is an old night time colour photo in landscape format taken through a passenger window viewing over the wing of a Boeing 737 aircraft while it's being deiced. Oslo, Norway (2007). From the base of the photo and extending away towards the right side is the swept wing of this jet aircraft. The camera is located behind a passenger window, about one metre above the and towards the rear of the wing, with the wing filling much of the lower half of the image. The forward part of the upper surface is shiny clearly reflecting the activities above. To the left and above the centre of the photo is the Sci-Fi like cab of an elevated aircraft deicing rig. The cab is mounted at the end of a long telescopic arm with the most of the mobile base out of view to the left of the image. The cab of the rig is level with the leading edge of the wing, about half way along it's length and two metres above. The cab is small, about the size of an old telephone box with large windows surrounding it, a large

Chinese New Year

(Details In The ) (Described by Human)

This is a colour street photo in landscape format of countless patterned red cubes suspended over a city street. New Bridge Road, Singapore (2013). Dominating nearly the entire photo are these multiple, bright red cubes. Each with a gold animal or Chinese character printed on the sides. The camera is located above the street and at the same level as the cubes with most of them being only a few metres away. Each cube is about one metre in all dimensions with them grouped together in their hundreds and suspended from poles or street lights high above the street. The animal pictures repeat numerous times: these include the traditional and compulsory Chinese dragon, Rabbit, Mouse and since it was the year of the Snake, a Snake. A few electric cables can be seen overhead suggesting that the cubes are lit after dark. The only area without cubes is a narrow portion of the photo stretching from the centre of the image diagonally upwards and into the upper right corner where there is what migh

This is a colour street photo in landscape format of a man wearing an orange jacket sitting on a bench next to an matching orange bike. Pier 35, San Francisco (2012). In the foreground the ground is made up of neatly laid wooden planks extending away and diagonally from the camera which is located half a metre above the ground. Two metres from the camera is a light brown wood, long and heavy section with a square cross section of half a metre that stretches across the photo from the left, to the right edge and is purposed as a bench. Against this stout length of timber and in the centre of the image, leans the orange bike, the bike and most of the scene is brightly lit from the sun that's behind the camera. The cycle appears to be collapsable with small, half a metre sized wheels, a low set frame with handle bars mounted on a long black tube with the saddle fixed in a similar fashion. The rims of the tyres, frame, peddles and saddle are all a caramel shade of orange. To the left of ce
