This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a modern submarine running on the surface with rising terrain in the background. Firth of Clyde (2017). The dark waters of the sea rise from the base of the photo upwards to a little less than the quarter up level. On a poorly defined horizon and below and to the left of centre is our submarine, underway from left to right and just above the surface. The camera is located a few metres above the water with the submarine being around one km away. The all black vessel is viewed in profile with the starboard (right) side in view. Water can be seen washing over the casing (top of the hull) with a short sensor above the deck aft of the bow. Further aft is the large fin (sometimes called the sail or conning tower) that's located a little forward of midships with two or three raised signal masts, radars or periscopes. This is a black and white water sports photo in landscape format of the rear of a surfboard protruding out of a brilliant white and swirling mass of foaming surf. Hermosa Beach (2014). The entire image is overflowing with the maelstrom of boiling surf from a breaking Pacific wave. The foaming water is brightly lit by the still low morning sun. Below the centre of the photo is the surfboard. The camera is located a few metres above and a few metres away from the board. Only the back and part of the mid section is visible, the remainder is hidden beneath the angry surf. The board is angled downwards towards the lower left corner, with it's edge angled towards the camera so little of the top or bottom surfaces are in view other than the one or two of the shark like fins on the underside of the board.

This is a black and white photo in landscape format of an elevated view along a nearly deserted and wide beach that stretches for miles with the sea on the right side and a single man walking in the lower left corner. Ocean Beach, California (2017). The camera is located thirty metres above the beach and is aligned with the beach on the left side of centre and the sea on the right. The beach and ocean rise upwards from the base of the photo to a little over the three-quarters up level. The beach is wide, at least one hundred metres from the shore to the water, perhaps more. The beach has ragged streaks extending along parallel to the water, indicating the high water mark and the point where the surf from the breaking waves is reaching: the latter has a shiny surface from the recent passage of water. This is a black and white photo in landscape format of a Brig (square rigged tall ship) underway through the deep water channel with the crew on the yards setting sail. Southampton Water, UK (2019). The near calm waters of the Solent rise upwards from the base of the photo to the quarter up level. The horizon is ill defined since there is an early morning sea fog reducing the visibility to less than one km. In the lower left corner of the image are two large navigation buoys, the closer dark buoy sits on a large cylindrical base with four tall vertical, rectangular panels on the sides and a square panel at the top. A little further away is a further buoy, lighter in tone than the first, with four panels that slope inwards creating a triangle: topped with a further triangle. This is a night time colour photo in portrait format of a tall, illuminated lighthouse located on a small hill, harbour water in the foreground and a dark caramel coloured sky in the background. Long Beach, California (2012). The dark waters of the harbour rise from the base of the photo, upwards to a little less than the one quarter up level, where the boundary between the water an distant shore is ill defined. The camera is located on the near shore, a few metres above the water and angled at the distant shore and lighthouse. The jet black water is rippled with the six long reflections from the small street lights on the shore. One further and shorter reflection is blue from the illuminated lighthouse. The weather was moody today - I've managed to go on a short walk by the sea when it stopped raining. I love the sound of waves as of walking on pebbles.

I've checked the water and it was still pleasant enough, at least right here at the shore; I wonder if I'll end up going to swim one last time this year. Usually I don't go to as much as I'd want to, this season was such again.

Peter got me into photography and bought me my Canon.

This was made with a spray can of water, a LED ringlight and some gentle, loving bullying. 😂✨

This photo is of my partner Peter. It is mostly black but because of the lighting you can see the outlines of his side profile and his hoodie. The lighting is in rainbow formation and goes from yellow-orange at the front (or left hand side) to blue/violet at the back (or right hand side). At the top of his head there is a triangular shaped green patch which is a combination of the fallen water droplets and the led light.
