El mar presenta un oleaje suave con la superficie rizada, típica de las condiciones atlánticas de la costa portuguesa. El contraste en blanco y negro resalta el brillo del agua salpicado de destellos de luz, sugiriendo una hora del día con sol intenso, probablemente cerca del mediodía o primeras horas de la tarde. La espuma de la ola rompiente destaca en tonos muy claros frente al gris más oscuro del mar de fondo, aporta

Yesterday I missed the ‚Leuchtturm’ / ‚lighthouse’ though I had this wonderful long exposure of ‚Faro di Punta Palau‘ (Punta Palau Lighthouse) during sunset. Hopefully you will forgive me the delay of one day?

The photo shows the beach with some rock formations in front of the milky turquoise sea. To the right a lighthouse reaches up into the blue, slightly violet and orange sky. There are some clouds in the sky. In the back the island of ‚La Maddalena‘ is enlightened by the last rays of the setting sun.

La fotografía, en blanco y negro, capta el Faro del Cabo de Gata recortado a contraluz sobre un cielo de atardecer, con el sol ocultándose justo detrás del promontorio y generando un halo de luz difusa que ilumina el horizonte desde el lado derecho de la imagen, señal del descenso solar hacia el mar. El acantilado rocoso ocupa la franja central de la imagen y se presenta como una silueta oscura y compacta, con un perfil abrupto que cae directamente sobre el mar. Sobre la cima se distingue con claridad la torre del faro, de forma cilíndrica y esbelta, acompañada de varias antenas y estructuras auxiliares —entre ellas lo que parece un radar o equipo de comunicaciones— típicas de una instalación de señalización marítima activa. A la derecha del faro se aprecian construcciones anexas de perfil más bajo, posiblemente edificaciones del antiguo recinto o dependencias del propio faro.
