While #Musk may be keen to appear to be a savour in the current crisis in #Nepal with his #Starlink satellite communications systems, there are a couple of angles to consider to this.
Firstly, Musk was the man who less than 18 months ago while heading up #Doge ensured there were $39 million of cuts in aid to #Nepal.

So would the DOGE cuts by musk have included Nepal’s early warning systems for high glacier lakes that threaten towns and villages?
@JugglingWithEggs@mstdn.social Worse: #TechBros and #FossilFuels #Oligarchy are being more and more successful at destabilizing vital root infrastructure science, by removing the far more qualified leaders in those critical fields, further clearing the path toward more profits, and resting assured by their luxury bunker backup systems.
Priority one is removing these abusers from power.
But secondly, #Musk has been desperate since 2022 for #Starlink to be used in #Nepal as this article from June explains:
‘Nepal’s telecom rules require foreign telecom operators to partner locally, with Nepali ownership requirements.
Starlink reportedly prefers operating with full or near-full control, which conflicts with Nepal’s regulatory framework.’
