I took a #bike ride this morning along County Road 3 east of #FortCollins, #Colorado, and captured a very dramatic #sunrise.

#Photography #Pixel10

Looking east, the sun is still low and obscured by moderate cloud cover, creating an impossible looking pink and purple background to silhouetted trees in the distance. In the foreground, the dried remains of sunflower stalks frame the sunrise.

A canal runs out around a bend toward a sun which is beginning to redden, the water gently reflecting the faint blue-lavender of the skies above.

A valley opens up between two rows of trees along County Road 48, which becomes Vine Dr. in the city. It reveals a single tree in a field across from a large barn in the middle distance, the city of Fort Collins several miles out from there, and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains stalwart behind it.

The barn from the previous photo from a different angle, a bit farther west. The same valley gazes upon a wash of bright morning sunlight flooding the front range in the distance, maybe ten or twelve miles away.
