I must have been tired and a bit stressed as we headed out on a Friday afternoon to this car gathering.

I had destroyed a motor mount, passenger side and he tried to repair it but it was so bad after getting a new one in I had to limp it into my local guys shop where it stayed for 2 days, my 56 that is.

Hours of labor leveling out the engine so she sat correctly and meshed better with the transmission. He tried but saying he needed no help from me when he was on his back just didn’t cut it, so the check for $650 was worth every penny this time.

So to take it on an hour + trip that turned into more like 2+ because I headed towards one place but it was much further north that we needed to be :) Stress is a lovely thing right?

He followed me in the Torino, which both got so much attention at the Best American Restaurant in Bristol | Village Local Kitchen once we arrived. The area is so large for us to park, at times it doesn’t look like many attended but there was over 100 by the time we arrived.

Ours were 2 of the 3 on the end of this row. If you watch the video you will see how much land they have down where we live it would have been packed.

We usually only know 3 or 4 people who make the trip north for this but on a gorgeous Friday night what is not to like about a long ride in our antiques.

We had Brady with us so between everyone petting him and drooling over the black beast we only had time for a quick walk around to see everyone else’s rides.

Because my truck is in the stages of me grinding off any rust, repairing spots that needed it using a fiberglass mix, then hitting it with clear to protect the work until I can get a beautiful day to add my high build primer to it then sand it again and again :) they call it blocking lol so some day I can have a uniform color on what used to be a pretty blue truck that was never done properly when they painted it blue out in Montana so it covered many faults but I do love the truck. Now to learn all I can to do it justice. Beats watching and listening to politics!

We went to a class the night before our ride and learned a bit about airbrushing.

Yes I tried my hand with that funky little airbrush it so not the same as my watercolor one lol but still fun though like anything you need to practice to get as good as these men at Classic Car Restoration – Paintworks Unlimited . Their whole shop is tops in our area and those of us who attend their free classes once a month we appreciate the fact they stay after the work day is over. For me it also reminds us why top notch work costs what it does. Just like my mechanic Robbie who takes such good care of us old people :)

Have a wonderful day!
