#Writephant 2026.0824 — A1. Do you love to cook? If so, what is your favorite thing to make? And if not, what is your favorite cooked meal?Yep, I cook. Many of the characters in my stories do, too. I often improvise. I was watching an anime where a character complained that he typically ate his eggs fried with soy sauce instead of western style, which led to the picture which is three eggs with soy sauce, plus sautéed garlic and scallions, butter, and drops of smoked sesame oil, finished with goat gouda after flipping the eggs half-over; that's why it looks like an omelette despite leaking yolk.

The “Quiet” Chemical Killers – ChlorineStarted with the Doom Fogger , just one of the 100s of chemicals used extensively in the Game Lodges.To write on every type of Doom like spray to prove it should not be allowed in ANY Reserves would be a mission on its own there are so many. Later I will just attack , ja attack, we not playing Painball here, every single shop in the Parks that sell any poisons.  The “Quiet” ones will have to point out. Although should NOT have to point it out to ANY Lodge owner. The ALL say they support Nature Conservation, claim huge knowledge of the subject for the most part….

Every 5 Star Lodge has at least one , crystal clear pool, and every one I have seen, the runoff just goes into the ground. This is what the Greenpeace site told me.

Pool chlorine runoff damages the environment by altering soil chemistry, killing local vegetation, and introducing toxic chemical residue into natural water sources. In Bushveld and game-lodge settings, this contaminated backwash or overflow endangers localized wildlife, amphibians, and sensitive aquatic ecosystems.

Climate Change? Have a theory just recently about this. We all know it is a money making thing, but too many people believe the Trust the Science “facts”, still!! After looking at poisons for one month only, the Climate Change is Mickey Mouse, even if all we read is true.  Recently the Bees got a bit of attention, they die , we die. This is biologically sound reasoning. BUT. Few things, first it is NOT only if the Bees go, we are at a point that the loss of even one tiny species of insect more and we take another big step towards …well, Armageddon. Then, I have just checked on all the insecticides/pesticides. I was sure they ALL kill bees, then I researched and found out this is 100% true. We have not even looked at herbicides yet!! That is another big issue I shall get to, as Agri Chems are just as bad. Time…. I will get there.

The reason that this chemical became the do all and end all of a clean pool is not a surprise……

Chlorine production scaled up massively during World War I and II for industrial and chemical warfare purposes. When the war ended, chemical manufacturers had vast amounts of infrastructure to repurpose. [1]

A lot of things we EAT have a similar history!!!

I will make a quick post on that, but as you know, my concern for the general unwashed masses is not…. that great. It will be a just facts one.

The Rabbit Paradox: How Fixing Australian History Handed Power to the Emus

If you could erase one event from history, what would it be?

If humanity had a single, golden lever to undo one moment in time, the gut instinct is always the catastrophic: wars, plagues, assassinations, or the burning of ancient libraries. Yet, history has a cruel way of teaching us that removing a monster often leaves a vacuum for a worse one, and curing a plague early might shift the balance of populations into brutal famines.

If I could erase one single, deceptively small event from the tapestry of time, it would be the 1859 introduction of twenty-four wild European rabbits into Victoria, Australia, by a well-meaning English settler named Thomas Austin.

Austin famously remarked that the introduction of a few rabbits could do little harm and might provide a touch of home, in addition to a spot of hunting. That single afternoon of nostalgic homesickness unleashed what became the fastest mammal invasion in biological history. Within decades, billions of rabbits had swept across the entire continent, stripping away root systems, turning fertile valleys into desolate red dust bowls, starving native marsupials to extinction, and warping an entire nation’s ecology forever. Erasing Austin’s little wooden crate of bunnies would save tens of millions of native lives, protect the fragile topsoil, and spare generations of farmers endless grief.

Yet, tampering with time never goes cleanly.

When the temporal distortion device hummed to life in our subterranean laboratory, the logic felt airtight. We targeted the Victorian docks in October 1859. The mission was surgically simple: intercept the shipping manifest, quietly drop the crate of twenty-four rabbits overboard into the English Channel before departure, and allow the timeline to settle into an era of green, unbroken Australian flora.

The machine whined, a sound like tearing silk, and reality collapsed inward.

The immediate side effect was not silence, but an aggressive, screeching shift across the digital fabric of the universe. In an instant, the timeline tried to stitch its threads back together. Whole economies that had been built around rabbit-proof fencing, Australian agriculture, and outback ecology collapsed and rearranged themselves into new digital systems.

Across modern offices, computer terminals flickered violently. Systems crashed as the cascade of historical variables forced every piece of modern infrastructure to rewrite itself on the fly.

Deep inside a nondescript government office in Melbourne, an overworked web developer named Liam sat frozen in front of his monitor. His screen was screaming in crimson errors. The sudden temporal divergence had corrupted every major public service network. The national infrastructure portal was offline, throwing chaotic status codes across every browser window.

Liam’s heart slammed against his ribs. The server room in the hallway began to wail with warning sirens. The internal logs read that if the central administrative interface was not rebuilt and validated against web accessibility standards within ninety seconds, the entire national emergency communication grid would lock out every operator in the country.

His breath caught in his throat. His fingers hovered over the keyboard, slick with cold sweat.

He had to remember the core principles of building an accessible, unbreakable system before the failure cascade went critical.

Every single page needed an informative, unique title that placed the most important details first. He slammed into the code, hammering out structural markup to convey pure meaning, ensuring screen readers and automated engines would never get lost in a flat wall of visual chaos.

Thirty seconds left.

The screen blinked with an ominous warning: Input Validation Failure.

He had to ensure the forms were forgiving of human error, clearly showing where problems occurred and suggesting corrections instead of locking panicked users behind technical jargon. He added meaningful text alternatives to every operational graphic, ensuring that critical interactive buttons possessed distinct visible states for mouse hover, touch, and keyboard focus.

Ten seconds. The room went pitch black, illuminated only by the frantic white glow of his monitor.

Liam hit the tab key, verifying that every single control could be reached and executed by a keyboard alone, bypassing every broken mouse driver and failing touch panel across the continent. He mapped the high-contrast palettes, ensuring foreground text stood boldly apart from the background.

Three seconds.

He held his breath. The entire room went dead silent. He pressed the final compile key.

The sirens stopped. The screen settled into a crisp, clean, perfectly accessible white interface. The red warnings vanished. The emergency broadcast system was alive and stable.

Liam collapsed backward into his chair, letting out the breath he felt he had held for an eternity. The world was intact. The ecosystem was saved.

The New Mexican Chronicles – One

Bilbo Baggins said something along the lines of: ‘One ought to be very careful when one steps out of one’s door, as one never knows where one may end up.’I stepped out of the proverbial door with the intention of getting horribly drunk at the local pub, which was conveniently within walking distance. I was doing just this when someone I’d had a nodding acquaintance with ten years back in the army, walked into the pub.

We were both not working me by choice because I had just sold my house and inherited a nice sum of money, Trevor because he couldn’t find work at that time. Anyway, Trevor had heard that, somewhere in Pretoria, a company was looking for men with operational experience to train troops in some African country, and they were paying very well – in Dollars! He had a contact name: Sergeant Pelsur, a company name: Executive Something, and a telephone number he was too bloody scared to act on. Well, I’m not known to be a man who sits on his hands, so after a good few drinks, off we went to my girlfriend’s house to make the call. All went well and an appointment was set up for the following day.

This, by the way, was Monday. I gave Trevor some money for petrol and booze and we both tried to find our old army records. My girlfriend Charmaine came home and I told her the news. She took it quite well but her 17-year-old daughter, Samantha, was none too happy. And that is another tale with a Devil’s Tail attached. The next morning, after my customary breakfast of a six-pack and a few shots of vodka……. to be continued

Sticking with Judas Priest, you both played Bloodstock this year! What does it feel like to share a stage with such legends and what were your thoughtseel about playing the festival?Honestly we can’t believe this dumb band is on the same bill as Priest. They’re one of our biggest influences so it’s very surreal.

Bloodstock has also  been a huge target for us for many years so it’s a strange feeling to be playing the main stage. Kind of like living a dream. A really long, horrible, smelly, tiring dream.

You’re known for your heavier songs, but I have to admit I adore “Reason To Breathe”(I’m a dad to a 2 year old). I want to know why do you do this? What keeps you going as musicians?That’s the reason. All art is a dialogue. Whether performed on stage or in recording studio. It’s a conversation between creators and observers. I’m sure your stage setup requires a crazy amount of cable. Which member of the band is most likely to trip over a power lead mid set and plunge the venue into darkness?Probably our bassist Spud. He’s probably the least technically minded, he wears the biggest boots and would be the most emotionally crushed at ruining a show. It would be pretty funny though.

You pack loads of energy into your tracks. If Seething Akira was hired to compose hold music for a tech support line. How long would it take for a customer to lose their mind? (For what it is worth I’d be praying to be put on hold)That’s very sweet of you. It’s hard to say. I think it would take a while. A lot of our songs start with our singer/producer Charlie and they start out as musical compositions that are then adapted into songs. Their often pretty interesting and mercurial.

That being said, if you asked Charlie to write music that would drive people insane – probably between 6 and 7 seconds.

You have never stayed in a comfortable lane with your music. Was the constant evolution something that happened as part of a master plan , or is this blending of styles now second nature and it happens naturally?SA: Somewhere in between. We all have varied musical tastes, so whatever we make is going to sound like an alloy; a merging of disparate elements.

In Cancel Estate we feel we hit the epitome of that style, we felt we had created something that was perfect Seething Akira. We’re now in the process of trying to develop that. We are now making a conscious effort to do something different with familiar elements under the umbrella of Seething Akira.

Which of your tracks do you think could act as the final boss battle song in a game?Probably Dioxide. It’s a no nonsense banger that sounds very…fighty.

Would you be able to go into detail about what the song Punishment Instructions is about?It’s a song about resisting control. Control through mass media, a job you hate or an abusive relationship. It’s about taking ownership of your life, raising your middle finger and telling those negative forces to go f*ck themselves.

It’s been a couple of years now since your last album “Cancel Estate”, when can fans expect a new one. Also how has sound of the band developed since that album came out?Next year! We’re all in the process of writing right now. It’s still early days but we’re starting to break into and contribute in different writing teams.
