Ninety-seven percent of them can still name one adult in there who has their back. In this climate. With this many legislatures hunting them. They found somebody anyway.
And the researchers went and measured what that adult is worth. Five supportive teachers or fewer: 3.20 grade average. Eleven or more: 3.42. Isolated from other queer kids: 3.23. Well-connected: 3.42.
That's not a warm feeling. That's a dose-response curve, and it means the thing that saves queer kids is the cheapest line in the entire education budget — one adult, repeatedly, refusing to look away.
