Wonderworker Saint Nicholas of Myra is the patron saint of sailors. This beautiful shrine is found next to the harbor of Stratoni, Greece. It is told that he did some climate engineering on his way to the holy land to save his and the sailors' lifes (calming a storm). Additionally, his patronage includes students, unmarried people as well as children, toymakers and many others. As if this is not enough, the earliest legend evolved around this multifaceted multitalent is him saving [sic] three daughters from prostitution by secret gift-giving. All in all he seemed to be a pretty nice guy. No wonder the roots of modern Santa Claus folklore are found in this Saints' hagiography.
