Beneath the Cyprus Shade.

Kapunda Cemetery, Kapunda, South Australia.

Kapunda is home to two primary historical cemeteries: the Kapunda Cemetery (the main town cemetery) and the St John’s Catholic Cemetery, which is located a few kilometres outside of town and carries a more somber, legendary history.

Kapunda Cemetery serves as a record of the pioneers who built the copper mining town.

A colour photograph showing a white marble headstone dedicated to Eliza, the wife of Methusalem Evans, dating back to 1884. The headstone is adorned with a detailed relief carving of a lily inside a circle. A low, weathered iron fence runs along the bottom and side of the frame, separating the grave from dark, shaded earth. Lush green trees fill the background, filtering the bright afternoon sunlight. A watermark reading 'Gardens of the Silent' is in the top left corner.
