Vrouw naast politieagent op de Nieuwmarkt, Amsterdam, tijdens de kermis, Ed van der Elsken, 1958

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-242-19-11

The image is a black and white photograph capturing a moment on what appears to be an urban street. In the foreground, there are two individuals: a man dressed in military attire with medals pinned on his chest, including one that reads "VANGUARD," suggesting he may belong to a specific unit or division within a larger force, possibly during World War II era given the style of uniform and hat. He is holding some papers and appears engaged in conversation with another person outside the frame. Standing next to him is a woman who seems intrigued by his presence; she has blonde hair styled voluminously typical of mid-20th-century fashion, wearing a sleeveless cream-colored dress paired with high heels. Her posture indicates attentiveness or curiosity as if she's listening intently to what he might be saying. Behind these two figures are blurred individuals who seem indifferent to their interaction; one is in the background looking away and another seems engaged in his own activity,
