Old & New

(Details In The ) (Described by Human)

This is a black and white cityscape photo in landscape format of an old and weathered low-rise apartment building in the foreground and a very high-rise modern apartment building in the background. To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong (2017). In the foreground, stretching from the left edge of the photo diagonally downwards to the lower right corner, is the front facade of our mid twentieth century apartment block. In reality it's probably mixed use with businesses intertwined with residential spaces. The camera is located on the opposite side of the street, angled upwards and viewing along the front of the facade which appears to be made up of six or more closely spaced buildings with the ground floors hidden beneath the photo. Each block is heavily weathered and once may have been painted white. As is common with this era of building, the types of window, location of external A/C units and drying washing - is totally random. The buildings are low-rise being limited to a maximum of ten floors due
