Ein quadratisches Foto. Vor blauem Himmel ist die Spitze einer weißen Flieder-Rispe zu sehen. Ein Taubenschwänzchen steht wie ein Kolibri quasi in der Luft und saugt mit mit seinem langen Saugrüssel Nektar aus den kleinen Einzelblüten. Der Schwärmer hat einen eher gedrungenen, gräulichen Körper an dessen Hinterleib die beiden typischen „Feder“-Büschelchen zu erkennen sind. Die von der Seite sichtbare Flügelunterseite ist orange-braun. Die Flügel werden zu den Spitzen hin unscharf, weil die Verschlusszeit der Kamera nicht für die circa 70-90 Flügelschläge pro Sekunde gereicht hat… // A square photo. #HummingBirdHawkMoth extracting nectar from a buddleia head.

A hummingbird hawkmoth (solid greyish body, wings blurred by motion, antennae and long proboscis visible) extracting nectar from a buddleia plant (small purple flowers with orange centres). The long proboscis means that rather than actually landing on plants it hovers over them without touching them.
