I came across this tiny little dude - apparently an Ailanthus Webworm Moth - in the garden yesterday.

An image of a moth with closed wings on a bright yellow coneflower petal. The moth has two antennae, one visible leg resting on the petal, and closed, bright orange wings with rows of white spots ringed in black. The moth casts a shadow on the petal. Beneath the moth, a blurred bright green coneflower cone and more petals. In the background, dark, blurry orange, green and yellow colours.

A Tiger Moth, Nyctemera lacticinia, spotted at Bidadari Park, Singapore on 16 Sept 2025. This one spread its forewings, showing the patterns on its body and the hindwings.

On iNaturalist [ https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/314303732 ].

A moth resting on a leaf. Its forewings are spread to the side, showing the hindwings below. The wings are brown. A series of large white patches runs across the forewings. The hindwings feature a large white patch that takes up most of the middle of the hindwings. The body is white, with a yellow head, black eyes, and a number of black stripes running down the body.

A Hummingbird Hawkmoths (genus Macroglossum) spotted at Springleaf Nature Park, Singapore on 14 Sept 2025. These fast flying moths are a challenge to shoot. But sometimes you get a lucky shot when they pause for more than a few seconds.

On iNaturalist [ https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/313785172 ].

Shot of a moth in mid-flight, feeding from a small flower. It is mostly brown and aerodynamic, like a dart. Orange stripes can be seen on the body. The wings are blurred in the shot due to their high speed movement.
