130/365 First time we've been to a ramen shop in over 10 years. There's a lot of good things about living in rural/suburban America, but unfortunately many types of ethnic restaurants are non-existent.

Black and white photo in landscape format of a mural inside a ramen restaurant.

Two Japanese chouchin (提灯), or paper lanterns, are hanging from the ceiling in front of the mural in the top left and right of the photo. 富士山 (Mt. Fuji//Fujisan) is written in Japanese vertically on the left of each lantern with an ocean wave and part of the mountain drawn on the right.

The mural has a chain of matsu (松) pine tree brannches extending from the top left corner to the middle of the frame. On the top left of the mural, a rising sun behind 富士山.

Under the mountain are ingredients from the restaurant's signature ramen dish: three sheets of nori, two pieces of char sui, and corn. Above the nori sheets three strands of ramen noodles are held above the dish with a pair of chopsticks/hashi (箸) by a kabuki yakusha/actor (歌舞伎役者) right arm extended, left hand holding a soup both ladle at waist height, and dressed in traditional kimono. He's intently concentrating on the ramen as if finishing its pres

129/365 Am thankful I retired from civil service. Government red tape & inefficiency. :(

In this case it took months for the city to notice the rotted, unsafe wooden planks. Sign and barricades followed over two months ago, but work still hasn't started. Guarantee the project is stuck in contract bidding hell. :(

Black and white photo in landscape format of a closed & barricaded walking path closed due to safety concerns.

A temporary steel mobile barricade stretches horizontally across the bottom half of the photo with 8 evenly spaced vertical support bars. A warning sign is attached to the 4th to 2nd support bars counting from right to left that reads:

[black and yellow triangular warning icon with exclamation point]
TEMPORARY
CONTRCUTION
WALKING
PATH
[large double sided arrows]

Behind the barricade are dark colored wooden planks perpendicular to the bottom of the photo and a chain link safety rail fronting the ocean. An ocean inlet and coastline are in the far background with cirrostratus clouds looming above.

121/365 Hawaii has a very unique, laid back and informal island lifestyle.

I've heard of Hawaiian Pidgin before, and know that "howzit" is a salutation with the rough equivalent of "how is it going?" or "what's up", but just found out the U.S. Census Bureau recognized pidgin as one of the official languages of Hawaii in 2015.

Busy today and barely kept my 365 project streak alive today by 55 minutes.

Black and white photo of the dashboard in landscape format of two vanity license plates prominently displayed on top the inside dashboard of a custom car through the front windshield.

The Hawaii license plate is on the passenger side with the word "HOWZIT?" in all caps vertically and horizontally centered and taking up two thirds of the plate. Above that, vertically and horizontally centered in all caps is the word "HAWAII" with font about a quarter size compared to "HOWZIT?". A rainbow arches from the bottom left and right edges of the plate. The bottom of the plate has a barely visible "ALOHA STATE" between the bottom edges of the rainbow.

The left third of the other license plate is underneath the Hawaii plate and not visible. What is visible: "HINGTON" on one "line, "GREEN MV" next, "PNW EXCLUSIVE C.C." next and " EVERGREEN STATE" on the bottom.

The rest of the interior is slight out of focus due to depth of field. A dark colored couch seat with middle divider, dark colored stee

120/365 John chronicled +50 years with his 1958 Thunderbird during our 15 minutes chat. It survived 2 marriages, multiple overhauls, and "rough use".

A film shooter, he proudly showed me a number of prints taken on journeys with his car across the US.

His passion made my day. IMHO sticking with anything for over 50 years is admirable. Wished him many more years of good memories with his beloved.

Black and white photo in landscape format of the proud owner of a white convertible 1958 Ford Thunderbird.

John is dressed in dark steel framed rectangular sunglasses, white T-shirt with a Ford Thunderbird printed across the chest, dark colored unbuttoned collared shirt over the T-shirt denim jeans, and black shoes.

Before taking the photo John asked to give him a couple minutes to close the trunk and engine, and retract the convertible's soft-top roof. He then propped himself up on the driver side door with right hand placed on the small side window, right knee bent over the door, and left left planted on the ground for balance.

Groups of spectators to the car show, a number of other cars on display, and a typical US small town business and residential structures are in the background.

118/365 See this quite often; a forgotten item in a park or other public place. It always makes me wonder what caused the item's owner to be distracted and forget they left something behind.

The mug was likely a gift. :(

Black and white photo in portrait format of a steel coffee mug forgotten and left behind in a public park on top of a trash receptacle.

The top part of dark colored cylindrical trash receptacle is centered in the bottom third of the frame. The receptable has a "roof" over the opening to dispose of trash. Sitting on top of the roof is a dark colored handleless steel mug with four ribs at the bottom. "Only the best Dads get promoted to Grandpa" are inscribed above the ribs in white-lettering.

In the background: a steel guardrail running horizontally across the frame directly behind the trash receptacle; a left-tilted power line with power lines running horizontally from left to right across the top of the frame in the far distance; an open gazebo in the middle of the frame in the mid distance; dark colored foliage and trees in starting in the middle of the frame and extending to the top left in the mid distance.
