No. 50 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in ería: PIÑATERÍA
I am celebrating the 50th entry in my collection of unique ería signs with one of my favorites: piñatería. The piñata is widely known as a container, usually made of papier-mache and formed into the shape of an animal or object of some kind, that is filled with candy, hung in the air, and struck with a stick or bat to break open and spill out the treats. While generally associated with Mexican culture, the piñata is popular throughout Latin America and other parts of the world. In the US, piñatas are very common at children's birthday parties and other festive gatherings.
I was thrilled to finally find a piñatería in my adventures throughout Spanish-speaking cities. I found this one in Lima.
