Crossing the Bridge, 8.

Something a little different for #Doorsday this week. These large discs appear at regular intervals along the massive main cables of the Brooklyn Bridge. I’d always wondered what they were; it turns out they’re barriers to discourage trespassers from climbing up the cables to reach the top of the bridge towers — a very dangerous stunt! The door in each barrier can be unlocked to give access to authorized personnel.

I recently got to see the lovely musical “Brooklyn’s Bridge,” about the brilliant Emily Roebling, who supervised the bridge’s construction after her husband the chief engineer was incapacitated. Afterwards the audience was invited to walk across the bridge itself, accompanied by tour guides. It had been years since I last crossed it on foot, and I was thrilled to see the walkway again. More photos to come.

A fairly bland overcast sky with some cloud for relief and the lighting is quite flat and over cast, though bright, so the contrast was difficult to acheive.
This mage is a mix of old Bristol with waterfront square industrial buildings, now converted to apartments (flats) and the more modern 'S' Bridge's curves that mimic the bends of the river.

The lighting is quite flat and over cast though bright so the contrast was difficult to acheive. Why: I liked to strong curves of the bridge and the presence two people for me give the picture context.
