Bad weather on Benasque valley, a photograph from summmer 2025

Mountain landscape under a dark overcast sky. In the foreground, a dark hillside covered in grass slopes towards the bottom left corner, with two tiny human figures on a trail on the bottom left, providing a sense of scale against the vast landscape. In the mid-section, rugged ridges covered with scattered trees and rock formations, with a deep valley winding through it. At 2,909m Puigmal is one of the highest mountains on the Eastern Pyrenees. Quite accessible in summer, there are plenty of ascension routes either from the Spanish or the French side. This photo shows the view following the route from Fontalba, over the town of Queralbs.

On our latest hike, walking down from Puigmal (2,909 m) we encountered a fox. Such a cute little creature!

A wild red fox sitting upright surrounded by vegetation. Sunlit pine branches of a vibrant green frame the right side of the scene. Small delicate purple flowers, are scattered behind the fox. The ground is covered by rocks, green moss and dry pine needles. The fox is looking straight to the camera with an alert expression in its beautiful amber eyes.
