Black and white digital photo of the refraction patterns projected through a window onto an indoor wall by low angle sunlight. The photo appears to be out of focus, but that is exactly what it looked like as projected on the wall. More details in the alt text.

This is a black and white digital photo. It shows an abstract effect produced by sunlight shining at a low angle through a window, and projecting refraction patterns onto the opposite wall. The window is made of several rectangular panes of glass. Each pane is simply regular glass, meant for looking outside and letting light in. But in the projection effect, each pane produces its own pattern as if in a grid. The effect in each pane seems wavelike and could be mistaken for interference patterns. However the patterns just reveal and amplify imperfections in the flatness of the panes (the window could be as much as one hundred year old). The overall image seems slightly out of focus, but that is actually what it looked like on the wall where the photograph was taken.

Some of the many stalwart redwood trees at the forest named after them in Warburton.

This is my second visit to the forest, and it still delivers. It's a lovely tranquil area, with nice ferny-bush surroundings and a river running down the back of the redwood area. There's also plenty of mushrooms poking out of fallen trees and such that will almost certainly appear in some future photos here...

A photograph of the base of a redwood tree. The tree occupies most of the right hand side of the image, connecting to the ground about 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the photo, and is reddish-brown bark. The ground is covered in brown redwood leaf litter and varies from light to dark, some is saturated and some is pale. In the background is more redwood trees, and the green leaves of those trees can be seen though they are blurry. A little light can be seen from the sky as well. The scene is dimly lit, with sunlight coming from behind filtering through the redwood trees from behind before reaching the scene in front. Much of the scene is in shadow, including the redwood trees in the background.

Big Ball of Hot in the Sky ☀️ for "Hitze" / "Heat"

To be fair, any photo that I've taken here this summer could qualify. It's been a long hot summer and we're in our fifth heatwave. Hopefully Friday it's breaking though! 🤞🏻✨

This is a photo of a branch from a tree in the San Michele in Bosco oark. Some bight sunlight bursts directly through a cluster of leafy green tree branches makingthe edges of the leaves glow. There are a couple of sparse spider webs which catch the light too. The top and bottom are pretty dark but above there are some circular bokeh orbs and below a lens flare because I had the camera pointed directly at the sun.
