In a forest we are looking at a close-up of two branches of a shrub with clusters of pink blossoms with long, pointed petals and long stamens projecting from their centers. In the out-of-focus background through the trees we can see a lake. The sun has set behind the wooded far shore tinting the horizon orange. The remainder of the sky is a soft gray blue with a few clouds.

In a thicket in the forest, a closeup of mountain laurel blossoms in full bloom. They are pentagonal in shape, and bright white with markings of striking dark pink just a few shades lighter than red. The leaves are waxy and green.

The last with the real fluffy cat for a while, I guess… I had a bunch of cat photos from the last year trips to different cities, but now all this pool is empty. I hope I'll meet some cats later this year and they'll allow me to make some photos. :)

The image captures a moment in an outdoor setting, likely a garden or backyard. A black cat with hints of brown fur is the central subject. It is still early spring here. Two old trees in the foreground growing beside a lake are just beginning to show signs of budding. Other trees growing nearby are covered in bright red buds. The early evening sky is a light but deep blue. The sun, setting behind the treetops across a small cove, is a ball of golden orange, its reflection broken into a long trail of sparkles by the rippling surface of the lake.

Taken in late November last year, this is a close-up of what I've only ever known as a "paper-bark tree." I remember seeing these trees as a kid and trying to peel the largest layer of the thinnest sheet that I could, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

While it appears pale at first glance, the bark hides a surprising range of colours from honey blondes to deep mauves, bordering on beet tones in some areas.

Part of me wants to look up the proper name of the tree, and part of me suspects that there's an even chance it's unpronounceable or mundane (like the paper-bark tree - wouldn't that be an anti-climax...)

A close-up photograph of a tree trunk, with a slight upwards-angle. Only a thin sliver of the trunk is properly in focus, most of it is blurry to some extent. In the background in the bottom-right corner is the sky, and in the top-right corner is some dark green foliage, heavily blurred due to depth-of-field, likely the leaves of either this tree or a near-by tree. The trunk of this tree is layered, and each layer is made up of thin sheets almost like filo pastry or something similar. There are lines and markings across the surface of the bark. One piece of bark is pulled away from the trunk and exposes a darker underside. The normal bark is predominantly a pale colour, mostly a grey-yellow-white, and the inner bark is a darker mauve-purple-honey mix

We are walking a trail through a sun-dappled forest with glimpses of a soft blue sky through the trees. A tall mountain laurel shrub with waxy deep green leaves and bursting with clusters of bright dark pink buds is backlit by the rays of the late afternoon sun.

Inspired by the Alhambra in Granada Spain and its Neo-Moorish/Islamic/North African/Al-Andalus style. This is the Rocchetta Mattei near Bologna - a place very much worth visiting! ✨

(There wasn't any flowing water while I was there but I am 95% sure it is a fountain 😂)

The photograph is of the stone fountain sitting at the centre of an open-air courtyard styled with Moorish architecture which is located in Rocchetta Mattei. The base of the fountain has lion statues supporting a big central basin inside an octagonal pool. Behind it in the courtyard are intricately carved arches supported by columns. There is also decorative tilework lining parts of the lower walls.

Walking a footpath bathed in golden early evening sunshine and lengthening shadows through a forest of mature leafless hardwoods. The forest floor is covered with new shoots of brilliant emerald green spring grass and leafy plants. Small shrubs growing between the tree trunks are also sprouting bright green leaves. Walking towards the sun, which is offscreen top right, backlighting the greenery.

A gray spring evening with wisps of fog as the air warms the cooler ground. In a lush hemlock forest a stream swollen by spring rains cascades over near vertical rocks for about 50 or 60 feet into a pool formed n a bowl shaped depression at their base. The dark gray rocks are covered with patches of lighter gray lichen and green moss.
