This is a black and white wildlife photo in landscape format of three large white-tailed eagles soaring of a cliff face. Gjesværstappan Islands, Norway (2017). Other than part of the near vertical cliff face the image is filled with a clear and cloudless sky rendered a light grey. The cliff face starts a short distance below the top right corner and descends at a steep angle into the lower right corner of the photo. The cliff is made up of smooth rocks with tufts of long grass growing from cracks in the rock. A short distance from the cliff are the three White-Tailed Eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla), often called Sea Eagles. The first eagle is above centre and is viewed from below at a distance of ten metres. The bird is banking steeply towards the cliff, which is three metres away, with the large wings outspread and undersides in view. The outspread wings are swept forward forming a large 'C' shape. Buzzards

This is a black and white wildlife photo in landscape format of a large bird soaring beside a hillside and searching for food. Angel Island, California (2017). In the foreground and blurred gently out of focus are numerous shrubs, assorted vegetation and a medium sized tree with dark leaves dominating the left third of the photo. To the right and slightly above centre in the image is our Turkey Vulture (Cathartes Aura) sometimes called a Turkey Buzzard or just Buzzard. The bird is soaring in the sea breeze that's blowing up the hillside allowing the bird to almost hover over an area of interest (breakfast). The bird is viewed in profile with only the left side and top surface in view. The camera is at the same level as the bird and is viewed from a few metres away (in reality much further away but the camera has a long lens in use). Le Pic mar qui fréquente le jardin de manière assidue depuis des mois vous salue bien.

Pic mar posé sur un tronc mort de Pin sylvestre, il semble méfiant et à repérer semble-t-il mon téléobjectif, son poitrail est légèrement strié verticalement de noir, son bec est très fin, ses sous-caudales sont rosées, on distingue également un peu de rouge sur le haut de la tête.

This is a colour wildlife photo in landscape format of a Gentoo Penguin, racing away with a small rock in its beak, having just stolen it from another penguin's nest (they use small rocks, stones or pebbles as a nesting material). Booth Island, Antarctica (2024). In the foreground is a large, smooth and sloping rock, stained a medium red or brown, that rises up from the lower left corner, extends over to the right margin and rises upwards to a little less than the quarter up level. In the centre of the photo is our thieving Gentoo Penguin hurrying from left to right. The penguin is viewed obliquely with right side and back in view, filling most the height of the photo and view from a few metres away and at the same level as the bird. In fact the photo was taken from five or more metres away, but with a long lens so the photo appears to be shot much closer. In the bird's beak is a small dark and sharp rock, probably no more than a few cm across. The sides of the bird's beak are bright

This is a black and white wildlife photo in landscape format of a Turkey Vulture soaring above a layer of clouds. Angel Island, California (2017). From the base of the photo and extending upwards to the half way up level and stretching across the image from left to right is a rough and undulating layer of brilliant white cloud. In the centre of the photo is our Turkey Vulture, often called a Turkey Buzzard (Cathartes aura). The bird is soaring above the layer of cloud with the wings extended. The bird is viewed obliquely with the front and left side in view, inflight from right to left and banking very slightly to the right and away from the camera. The camera is at the same level as the bird and at a distance of about five metres. The head is looking forwards and slightly downwards. The beak is large and hook shaped. Pic mar en action posé sur un tronc de pin sylvestre, il cherche à se nourrir en fouillant avec son bec dans les infractuosités de l'écorce, on distingue très nettement le rose de ses sous-caudales, il a vraiment fière allure. Pic mar prenant son bain dans un bassin peu profond placé au sol à très faible hauteur. J'ai installé trois bassins de ce type depuis le début des chaudes journées de juin, répartis dans des zones ombragées du jardin.

Revoilà notre Pic mar posé près d'un abreuvoir pour passereaux. Il vient tous les jours depuis le début le canicule, il vient boire mais il est aussi en recherche active de nourriture dans les zones un peu plus fraîches du jardin, il visite les troncs morts et va au sol de temps en temps, il s'est même déjà baigné. Il est magnifique !

Pic mar posé près d'un abreuvoir pour passereaux, large soucoupe en terre cuite sur laquelle est perchée une mésange charbonnière. Le Pic semble méfiant, il a la tête à la verticale et semble scruter les alentours. Pic mar en train de boire dans une soucoupe remplie d'eau, il boit en ayant la tête penchée sur le côté, on voit le reflet de celle-ci à la surface de l'eau.

Une plume blanche dont tous les éléments, jusqau'aux plus fines barbules, sont bien déployés. Elle est posée sur un fond de cailloux / A white feather, every part of which, right down to the finest barbs, is fully spread out. It lies against a backdrop of pebbles.
