Aircraft Art

(Details In The ) (Missspelt By Human)

This is a black and white photo in landscape format of an old Douglas DC3 aircraft painted in a psychedelic style. Tucson, Arizona (2013). The aircraft stretches from the left margin across the photo towards the right edge. The fuselage is angled upwards with only the mid and forward section in view. The wing stretches outwards from the middle of the fuselage and ends out of view beyond the right of the image. The camera is located close behind the wing, a metre and a half above the ground and angled towards the nose of the plane. The aircraft fills three-quarters of the image. The bright desert sun is illuminating the aircraft. The plane is painted all white with countless black swirls painted on top creating multiple patterns. Around the nose those patterns are fish like with their mouths open with a further fish inside the mouth. Aft of the nose and on the fuselage over the wing, the swirling lines become more random with any pattern hard to make out. There is an arm holding a swor

Knowledge. And some wisdom.

A multi-level library room featuring towering wooden bookshelves packed with uniform hardcover volumes. A second-story mezzanine with a dark metal railing wraps overhead, holding another tier of book-filled shelves beneath the ceiling. To the left, a tall window divided into multiple panes reveals leafy tree branches and an adjacent exterior wall outside. A horizontal light fixture illuminates the lower shelves.

Enter the tunnel of darkness.

A stone doorway framed by large upright jambs and a heavy horizontal lintel opens into a dark underground corbelled tunnel beneath an ancient dry-stone rampart. The entrance leads into the shadows of the Yerkapı postern tunnel at the Hittite archaeological site of Hattusa in Turkey, with a faint pinprick of daylight visible in the far distance. Surrounding the entrance are weathered limestone blocks and patches of dry vegetation under the blue sky with scattered clouds.

Rustic arched metal sign reading “18 Hutchins 61,” topped by a perched bird, stands among dense green trees, creating a quiet woodland scene. Weathered white gravestones and fence rails emerge from tall golden grasses, framed by leafy trees in a quiet, rustic countryside scene. Weathered white gravestone rises from golden meadow grass beneath towering trees, creating a quiet, reflective, slightly melancholy woodland scene.

This is a black and white: part abstract, part historic, part architectural photo in portrait format of a narrow covered walkway with square wooden pillars supporting a pitched roof with multiple Chinese lanterns suspended from the centre of the inside of the roof. Old Thong Chai Medical Institution, Singapore (2013). Extending away from the camera along both the left and right sides of the photo are two rows of square, tall, wooden pillars that are about two and a half metres tall and with the two rows spaced about by one and a half metres. The pillars converge slightly with increasing distance. The wood is a pale white in appearance, perhaps bleached, painted white or the elapse of time? At the base of the pillars are round stones with a flat top and bottom, identical to a wheel of cheese. The floor comprises of multiple paving stones that are not quite laid flat, again perhaps suffering the passage of time. On the top of the pillars is the inside of a narrow pitched roof. The roof

It was interesting to visit, mainly for the and the lovely . I actually prefer to see castles from outside rather than inside.

Phone quality sadly, as for a while I wasn't taking camera around, for reasons. It was also most convenient for my small, private IG.

The Roman city at Wroxeter, known as Viroconium Cornoviorum started as a settlement that grew up around a Roman Fort near the end of the Watling Street Roman Road.

It's thought to have become the 4th largest Roman settlement in Britain. By the 4th Centry, it was in decline however, and by the 5th the city centre had been abandoned.

A photo of "The Old Work" a 7m high piece of Basilica wall., This is the largest piece of free-standing Roman wall in the country. This show the stone piles that would have supported a heated floor in the bath house. A view through a hole in the Basilica wall, looking into the bath house. A picture of a replica Roman house, with the remains of columns in front of it.

This is a night time photo in portrait format looking along a deserted pavement with an ornate white facade lined with pillars on the left side and a row of palm like trees on the right. North Bridge Road, Singapore (2013). Extending away from the camera from the centre of the base of the photo into to distance and angled to the right is a dark, two metre wide pavement. Commencing along the left edge of the image and stretching away from the camera and again, to the right is the white facade of a restored historic building. The camera is placed two metres away from the front of the building and is angled along the facade so that the gaps between the pillars are visible but nothing can be seen inside those gaps. The facade is lined with ornate white and decorated pillars placed every few metres, the arched gap below allowing entry into the building, it's courtyards or the shops that are on the outside of the building.
